Missing Siblings Found Safe And Well

Two children who had gone missing from their home in Darlaston, West Midlands, in the cold weather have been found safe and well.

Sophie Fletcher, 12, and her brother Jack, 10, had left their home after packing a bag of clothes and taking cash.

The two, whose school was closed, were reported missing at around 8.30am.

Police had expressed concern for the siblings, especially in the freezing weather, and had launched an extensive search in the area.

West Midlands Police said Sophie and Jack "were found at Darlaston bus station at 5.20pm by a family friend who spotted the pair and alerted the police".

"Officers immediately attended and the two are currently being reunited with their family," a police statement said.

Police used social media to alert locals to the missing children. They said that on Twitter the news was retweeted thousands of times, including by local celebrity and the former international footballer Stan Collymore.

It sounds pretty serious as they stole money and seemed to try to get away on a bus. Of course it could all be innocent and indeed a happy ending, but we shouldn't assume that

Good that they've been found ok but questions need to be asked why both of them left during the night

Theirs nothing in the news item that even remotely suggest being abused or nothing.im sure the police have already asked why they run away otherwise they wouldnt be reuniting them with thier parents.i should think theres lots of sorrys and cuddles going on tonight.

We don't know enough but i'd wonder what triggered this and what they were running from. Hope it all gets looked into properly

This doesn't seem to me like the beginnings of just an adventure to me. They were clearly running away. I hope the kids are in the right place.

I do agree as the seemed quite organised and trying to get on a bus. Hope they are in a good place and that questions get asked. It's probably all innocent but there's enough there to make me wonder
