Leeds House Fire: Two People Killed By Blaze

Two people have been killed in a house fire at a property in Garforth, Leeds.

Rescuers found one person dead at the scene in Farfield Court, while a man was taken to hospital with serious burns.

The man later died of his injuries, police said.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Fountain, of West Yorkshire Police's Protective Services Department, said: "We are working closely with the fire service to establish the cause of this incident, which has left two people dead.

"Enquiries are still at a very early stage."

Police and firefighters remain at the scene as an investigation into the cause of the fire continues.

Local MP Alec Shelbrooke said on Twitter: "Terrible scenes from house fire in Garforth tonight. Prayers with the family.

"We're a strong community & will now come together to support."

The blaze comes after three children and two adults died in a another house fire in Sheffield this week.

A nine-week-old baby was among the dead in the fire, which broke out in the early hours of Monday.
