US Pulls Lahore Consulate Staff Over Threats
The US has evacuated all non-emergency staff from its consulate in Lahore over "specific threats".
The warning by the State Department noted that "several foreign and indigenous terrorist groups pose a potential danger to US citizens throughout Pakistan".
It also told US citizens to avoid all "non-essential" travel to Pakistan.
The evacuation follows the closure of 17 US embassies and the evacuation of its diplomatic headquarters in Yemen earlier this week.
A US embassy spokeswoman said it was unclear when the consulate would reopen.
Tensions have also risen this week with Pakistan's neighbour India over the disputed territory of Kashmir.
