Vaughn set to play 70s TV detective

Vince Vaughn is set to give late-1970s TV detective Jim Rockford a makeover in a new movie adaptation of The Rockford Files.

The Wedding Crashers star will take on the character created by James Garner in a film he'll also produce, according to Deadline.com.

In the original, Garner played a wrongly-convicted Los Angeles private eye attempting to get his life back on track.

David Levien and Brian Koppelman, who teamed up to write the script for Ocean's Thirteen, will pen the screenplay, according to the website.
