William Friedkin slams Exorcist TV series rumours

Director William Friedkin has shot down reports his iconic horror film The Exorcist is set to be made into a TV show.

It was reported last month that the terrifying 1973 film, which featured Linda Blair as demonically possessed schoolgirl Regan MacNeil, was to be transformed into a 10-part series.

But Friedkin is adamant no such project is in the works, insisting the movie would not transfer successfully to TV.

He tells Digital Spy, "It's not happening. It's a load of b**locks. There's no television series of The Exorcist planned. It would be ludicrous. An exorcist a week?"
