Wiz Khalifa faces drug charge

Rapper Wiz Khalifa is facing a drug possession charge after police allegedly caught the star with marijuana in his hotel room.

The hip-hop star - real name Cameron Thomaz - was in Nashville, Tennessee for a gig at the city's Vanderbilt University over the weekend, but he sparked complaints at the Holiday Inn where he was staying after other guests reported a smell of weed coming from his room.

Police were called on Saturday, and officers claimed to have seen the rapper throw an item out of the window as they entered.

Khalifa's friend, Lonnie Howard, 27, was searched and allegedly found to be in possession of marijuana, while Khalifa, 24, later admitted also having the drug on his person, according to The Tennessean.

Both were cited on a charge of misdemeanour marijuana possession and are due at Davidson County Court on 14 May.
