Wizz Air Launches Kiev To Moscow Flights
Budget airline Wizz Air Ukraine has announced a new route from Kiev to Moscow.
From September 30 the carrier will fly from Ukraine into Vnukovo International, one of Moscow's major airports.
The route will initially run three times a week and will operate on one of the airline's new Airbus A320 aircraft.
Wizz Air Ukraine director general Akos Bus, said in a statement: "Our commitment to Ukraine has allowed millions of people to fly over the past six years, who otherwise would not travel due to the previous limitations by high fare monopolies.
"At a challenging time for all Ukrainian airlines, we look to the authorities to create a platform for development and fair competition."
It comes amid the ongoing conflict between the two countries, which earlier in July saw Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 brought down in eastern Ukraine.
Wizz Air's new route will avoid the flight path over the area of conflict in the east of Ukraine as it flies north-east to Moscow.
On Thursday, international experts reached the crash site of the downed plane for the first time in almost a week due to fierce fighting between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russian rebels.
