Woman In Her 30s Posed As Teenage Student
A woman in her 30s has posed as a teenager to enroll at a high school in Texas.
The woman, Charity Johnson, spent months at the school before being arrested for giving police false information about her name and date of birth.
She said her name was Charite Stevens and was born in November 1997.
Police in Longview had been called to an apartment when the person Johnson was living with said she no longer wanted her staying there.
Police say Johnson is 34, although jail records list her as 31.
The principal at New Life Christian School in Longview said Johnson enrolled in October, indicating in the paperwork that she was 15.
"She acted like a 15, 16-year-old. She was an attentive student, respectful, did her homework," Stuart Newlin told the AP news agency.
He said everyone involved with the school was convinced she was a teen.
Mr Newlin said "nobody seems to know why" she posed as a teen. Police also said they had not determined her motives.
Tamica Lincoln, the woman Johnson was living with, said Johnson had told her she needed a place to stay.
"I sympathised with her, and invited her into my home," she told KLTV television station.
"I took her in as a child, did her hair, got her clothes and shoes."
Johnson is being held in the Gregg County Jail on $500 (£300) bond.
