Woman Jailed For Racist Abuse On Tube Train
A woman whose racist abuse of fellow passengers on a packed Tube train became an internet hit has been jailed for 21 weeks.
Jacqueline Woodhouse, 42, from Romford in Essex was filmed ranting at passengers on a Central Line train in January.
The video, filmed by passenger Galbant Juttla, was uploaded onto YouTube and has now been viewed 200,000 times.
Mr Juttla was returning from a funeral when the incident happened.
Woodhouse is seen in the seven-minute video carrying out an expletive-laden rant at passengers.
She repeatedly asks them: "Where are you from? Where are you from?"
One passenger is heard to say: "I'm British."
She pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to a charge of racially aggravated assault.
Woodhouse arrived at Westminster Magistrates Court with two friends, who shielded her from photographers with an umbrella.

The subject is too difficult to comment on with being misread

Jailing her is utterly vindictive and a waste of time and money. Sure, what she said was unacceptable and out of order, but nobody was physically assaulted and we have all faced insults against us at some time or other. She was obviously under stress herself probably due to an emotional attendance at the funeral she was returning from. No, I'm afraid this sentence was simply a pc exercise and thoroughly wrong, she needed help not a savage revenge kicking!

It was the man who filmed the video who had just attended a funeral, not her. Don't make up excuses for such a horrible human being. Racism is a crime and should be punished accordingly.

amywiloo----try taking off your rose tinted glasses and view the world as it actually is!

When will people ever learn! In today's Orwellian world you just should not reveal reveal your true thoughts and feelings - ever. Big PC brother with the State's resouses wil persecute you.

world gone mad. yes, she may be a m-ron, but a custodial sentence for "saying something" is a joke.

People have to realize that when they cause a scene, someone will get their phone out and you will end up on youtube. What this women did was wrong and she deserves to go to jail. Maybe she should keep her mouth shut next time

Was it that serious to warrant a custodial sentence? ......not nice, but not the biggest crime.....no I'm not racist, very far from.....you only have to blink these days, and someone sticks it on you tube! ......big brother? She def deserved a ticking off, but for you tube, never would have gone to court.....so who filmed it? Hmmm?

martin
Perhaps not if the situation had been reversed.

The judge should come to our local Church of England School and hear what head teacher calls the parents!

Sounds like you should be in the cell next door.

Richard Gould
The people who have written here saying that she should not have been sent to prison have obviously not been the victim of abuse, racial or otherwise. Her behaviour was totally unacceptable and empathising with her is indicative of today's society, with a don't care attitude, especially if it doesn't happen to them. I wonder how people would react if this had been a politician or somebody else in the public limelight???

Richard I was the victim of racism in Angola but as i'm white thats ok as we 'Brits' have now given up all our rights to be heard with any kind of judicial sanity. As for any politician being either sent to jail (which would never happen no matter what they do) or being verbally abused, if you care in the slightest what happens to any of these brain dead morons then you need some counselling

Beat the hell out of someone and get community service. Upset the feelings of one of our ethnic minority and go to jail. Unbelievable. This isn't justice it is an exercise in the vindictiveness of our Politically correct system
