Man Arrested After Taxi Killing

Police are questioning a 28-year-old man about the attack.

West Midlands Police said the man, named by sources as Junior Saleem Oakes, also known as Mohammed Saleem (Salim) Junior Oakes, was found in the garden of a house on Allens Farm in south Birmingham.

The suspect was taken to a police station for questioning, a spokesman said.

Detectives had earlier taken they called the  unusual step of naming Oakes and appealing for the public's help to locate him.

The man and woman involved in the incident are thought to have been travelling together in the taxi and may have been involved in a relationship, police said.

The West Midlands Ambulance Service said the 22-year-old woman suffered multiple serious injuries after she was knifed repeatedly while still in the car.

The taxi driver called emergency services after the attack, in the Northfield area of Birmingham, but the woman was in cardiac arrest when paramedics arrived and could not be saved.

The victim has not been named. A post-mortem is due to take place on Wednesday.

:: Witnesses should contact officers at the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Birmingham on 101.

It's no good banning the production of kitchen knives, but they could ban the production of camping knives and any fixed blade knives. They should make knives so that when anyone attemps to use a stabbing motion on a hard or relatively hard surface it collapses onto the fingers of the perpetrators so chopping off their fingers. That'll teach 'em.

How could banning knives help..? Next thing you would want Matches banned perhaps because someone started a fire.... Or maybe perhaps hands cut of so he couldn't have strangled her... He was the perpetrator and the instrument was his mind.
