World's Richest Woman Earns £1m Every Hour

Australian mining magnate Gina Rinehart has become the world's richest woman, and earns more than £1m an hour.

According to Australian business magazine BRW, Ms Rinehart's personal wealth swelled last year to $29bn aus (£18bn).

The magazine's 2012 Rich 200 list calculates that she has now overtaken Walmart heiress Christy Walton as the world's wealthiest female.

Gina Rinehart, 58, an intensely private businesswoman, has made her money through Australia's mining boom providing iron ore and coal to emerging markets such as China.

"If the demand for natural resources remains strong, additional multi-billion mines are almost inevitable," said BRW Rich List editor Andrew Heathcote.

"There is a real possibility that Rinehart will become not just the richest woman in the world but the richest person in the world."

That title is held by Mexican telecommunications mogul Carlos Slim Helu, with $69bn (£43bn).

"A $100bn (£65bn) fortune is not out of the question for Rinehart if the resources boom continues unabated," said Mr Heathcote.

However, her huge wealth has not made life completely stress free.

Three of Ms Rinehart's four children - John Hancock, Bianca Rinehart and Hope Welker - launched a lawsuit against their mother last September in a bid to oust her as trustee of the multi-billion-dollar family trust established by her late father Lang Hancock.

She attempted to keep the feud secret, applying through the courts to keep the details from the media.

Unlike many wealthy heirs, Ms Rinehart has not just maintained her fortune but multiplied it many times over.

When she made her debut on the rich list after her father's death in 1992, her net wealth was estimated at $75m aus.

Now she is worth 386 times that amount.

what do you think?

Well, she's damn ugly, looks very unhealthy and her kids are suing her. But on the bright side she has an irrelevant amount of money that she couldn't possibly need, or spend. And they call her the richest woman in the world. If one of my kids had anything against me , i'd be the poorest man alive, and give up everything just to be close again.

Earned, no. Gained rather. And a lazy, disgruntled colleague of mine used to say he "worked" for my employer. I put him right. "You're only on the payroll".

If I had that much dough I'd give it away to charity. It's an obscene amount of money.

ok she was left an on going business, she fought her own kids with the right moral stnding and has gone on to make it pay, God alone knows how many hours and stressful days and Nights she's putting in. Ok it does come with big rewards not always great happiness and normally means a much shorten'd life span, God bless the woman she is the one putting in the work rate she's prob a work-a-holic. Me I'm happy with what I have, and what I have is what I want! I wonder can she say that? No she cannot or she would stop now and live and enjoy what she has got! The very best of luck to her but her life and her money would not suit me.

Help to save a childs life by giving just £2.00 per month. Thats what we get all the time on TV. Where is the sense in this world? Time someone had a rethink.

africa has more births than deaths it is overpopulated by far they breed like rabbits. people needed less in workplace ie automation/computerisation is better and easier. by giving money to africa it worsens the prob. russian data nigeria population 131 million now will have 350 million by 2050 double. most will eventually try to come here. so i suggest you ignore ngo's christian aid etc that cause more probs. ethipoia had famine 1980 resources for 40 million, aid went in they bred like rabbits now population 140 million.

She is getting rich by the inevitable human problem of population explosion, something that happens when a species breeds without control. Fair play, China did try to enforce a one child / family basis, but it's not just China. How many of you have children? I agree with Hamish, donating money to poor [1st world intentionally suppressed] countries solves the problem short term but long term it escalates, with a N.W.O the outcome is obvious.

just as my old mum used to say: Money can't buy you happiness. Still i bet she's miserable in exceedingly comfortable surroundings. I do hope she secretly gives oddles of cash to charity. I know I would.
