Pink - 'Please Don't Leave Me'

Pink

Editor's rating

Pink, by her own admission, is the worst girlfriend ever. If you need proof, look no further than Exhibit A: 'Please Don't Leave', the third single to be taken from Funhouse.

The antithesis of her No.1 single 'So What', this time Pink has dropped her defences and admits desperation as her lover walks out on her. She's got her work cut out though - especially as the closest to an outpouring of affection comes courtesy of the line, "You're my perfect little punching bag".

'Please Don't Leave Me' is another pop-rock ballad from Pink and her hit-making co-writer and producer Max Martin (the pair have already enjoyed success with 'U + Ur Hand', 'Who Knew' and 'So What') that perfectly suits the singer's raspy vocal delivery. Simultaneously conveying her bitterness and regret, Pink proves once again why she remains pop's most prominent anti-heroine.

If you get the chance - and you're not too squeamish - take the time to watch the music video too. Lines like "I can be so mean when I wanna be/I am capable of really anything" may seem meagre on record - but they somehow hit harder once you've seen her chasing her invalid boyfriend round the house brandishing an axe.
