BBC sorry for UN logo gaffe

Logo gaffe /BBC

The BBC has apologised to viewers after mistakenly showing a graphic from a computer game instead of the UN Security Council logo.

The badge of the fictional United Nations Space Command, from interstellar war game Halo, was shown during a report on unrest in Syria.

It was featured alongside the Amnesty International logo, behind presenter Sophie Raworth as she read the news, reports the Guardian.

Viewers quickly spotted the error and posted pictures on social media sites.

A BBC spokesperson said: "BBC News makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of all images broadcast, however very occasionally mistakes do happen.

"Unfortunately an incorrect logo was used during a segment on last week's News at One bulletin and we apologise to viewers for the mistake.

"The image was not broadcast in our later bulletins."

Instead of Copying the Logo I took these numbers from Wikipedia UN Security Council Resolutions 1 to 100 (1946?1953) 101 to 200 (1953?1965) 201 to 300 (1965?1971) 301 to 400 (1971?1976) 401 to 500 (1976?1982) 501 to 600 (1982?1987) 601 to 700 (1987?1991) 701 to 800 (1991?1993) 801 to 900 (1993?1994) 901 to 1000 (1994?1995) 1001 to 1100 (1995?1997) 1101 to 1200 (1997?1998) 1201 to 1300 (1998?2000) 1301 to 1400 (2000?2002) 1401 to 1500 (2002?2003) 1501 to 1600 (2003?2005) 1601 to 1700 (2005?2006) 1701 to 1800 (2006?2008) 1801 to 1900 (2008?2009) 1901 to 2000 (2009?2011) 2001 to 2100 (2011?present)

I never trust the BBC, they make one mistake after another, largely due to the ignorance of their journalists and script writers and lazy over-paid directors and producers. Complaining is made difficult, and when one does get a reply, there is no address to respond back when, as happened in one case, they made a further serious error. A professional organisation would assign a case officer when handling a complaint to that one does not have to go back to the beginning if the first reply is unsatisfactory.

Same with Central TV...I noticed , on a bmi baby airline advert, that they had the weather-vane back to front...East and West reserved... Contacted BMI and Central News, they seemed unconcerned....I often thought when a passenger expected to go to the States, how they would feel when they ended up in Cairo...Good Comment.
