Bouncing tyre scores bullseye

A runaway bouncing car tyre scored a bullseye when it smashed straight through the middle of a BP petrol station sign.

The tyre was recorded on CCTV causing a massive hole in the sign off the southbound carriageway of the A1 in Nottinghamshire.

Luckily no-one was hurt when it hit but strangely the tyre has never been found and the owner still hasn't come forward.

James Kemp, BP area manager, said: "It could have been fatal if someone was in its path.

"It hit the grass verge in front of our forecourt and bounced straight through our sign destroying the BP Helios. Its aim was incredible.

"It couldn't be found so we presume it's still on its journey. Nobody came forward and accepted responsibility."

A passer-by said: "It was weird. The tyre seemed to have a mind of its own.

"To take out the dead centre like that must have been a million-to-one shot."
