Boy, 4, escapes unhurt from double disaster

Accident scene /Europics

Rescuers were amazed to pull an unscathed four-year-old tot from the remains of a car after it was rammed by a 250 lbs stag and then crushed by a train.

Horrified mum Anita Koller tried to tear her son free from his child seat but was thrown clear when the train hit them at full speed at the crossing in Oberengadin, Switzerland.

"They were hit by a deer which knocked them over into the car's roof and it slid straight onto the tracks just as a train was coming. It didn't seem that either of them had a prayer," said one witness.

But rescuers were amazed when both mum Anita and tot Markus were left unhurt by the smash.

"The train hit the car so hard it was derailed. They really were extraordinarily lucky," said a fire service spokesman.

The deer rammed the car? More like the deer bounded across the road and either a swerve or the impact threw the car onto the railway line.
