Britain's worst waxworks could close

David and Victoria Beckham waxworks/Rex

A waxworks described as Britain's worst is facing closure because nobody wants to take it over.

The Louis Tussuads House of Wax in Great Yarmouth has cult status because few of its models look anything like their subjects.

Thousands of visitors pay £5 each to visit the seaside attraction to mock the far from lifelike models, reports the Daily Telegraph.

It features 150 models including David and Victoria Beckham, Samantha Fox, Cliff Richard, Paul Gascoigne and most of the royal family.

Jane Hayes, 82, and her husband Peter, 85, who have run the museum since 1955, fear they will have to close the business if nobody wants to take it on.

Mrs Hayes said: "We don't want to retire but when your health starts to decline you have to think.

"It will be a shame as we've been here 57 years, and it would be nice to make 60, but we've no family interested in taking it on."

Many of the models have been widely mocked on the internet, particularly by visitors on the review website TripAdvisor.

Some have even admitted travelling more than 120 miles to visit the waxworks so they can laugh at the models.

One visitor said: "This is well worth the £5 entry fee as its sooooo bad it's good."

what do you think?

Someone must have spent a lot of time and effort making those, whether they are bad or not some people are so cruel to mock work that others have put effort into. I bet they couldnt do nearly as well making a waxwork, never mind any better!

Lighten up, pal. Whoever did spend a lot of time and money making these things, has wasted both. If people have spent good money on what turns out to be rubbish, then they are entitled to mock. You can't judge someones work just by what they put into it. If it's garbage, then that's what it is.

The picture of the Beck.hams is a definite improvement on Victoria, she doesn't look quite so anorexic! It would be a shame for the place to close, we all need some humour in our lives.

It's a shame people can do nothing but criticise. This is largely why I now live outside of Britain - to avoid the gratuitous negativity.

Well, I actually drive a very nice car (4L v6 fuel injected). I have a decent job and my own business. I live in a tidy terraced house that's my own space. I have a ladyfriend. I go shooting whenever I fancy - with guns that are illegal even to have, in Britain. I have quite a nice life. In Britain I never could get much. I was getting older and no further.

I think a lot of people here are missing the point. It is so popular because the waxworks are so bad. If they were better they problerbly would have gone out of business long ago.

Shame it's closing, sounds like they're doing good business especially now it's reached the news. Hitler looks like he overdid his face with a bottle of Tanfastic, and Shirley Bassey looks like unseen footage from a zombie movie.
