Church leaders angered by loo roll Bible quotes

Loo roll /Ext

A toilet paper company has removed Biblical quotes from a line of loo rolls after complaints from church leaders.

Metsa Tissue, the Finnish company behind the Lambi brand, launched the product to "spread love and joy".

It was intended to feature "witty quotes and philosophical messages" but accidentally included a number of Biblical quotes, reports Christian Post.

They included passages from the Gospel of Matthew
including where Jesus says: "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

This caught the attention of Norwegian church leaders, who objected to the use of scripture verses.

"This is bad taste and shows lack of respect," said Laila Riksaasen Dahl, the bishop of Tunsberg. "Bible verses do not belong on a roll of toilet paper."

Metsa Tissue has agreed to remove the Biblical quotes - but says it will continue with the range.

Company spokeswoman Christina von Trampe said: "People like to read small, happy messages while sitting on the toilet.

"The vast majority of the feedback has been positive. Our intention was to spread love and joy, not religious messages."

I wonder what the other world religions would have to say if quotes from their good books appeared like this? Someone would have to put the lid on it before they all got bogged down in philosophical discussions.

I honestly couldnt think of anything more worthy as to be used as toilet paper than pages from any of the ,supposedly, holy books.

Each and every time I read anything on this website, I check out the comments, and to date each and every one is always putting the bible as the worst thing to ever be read, have any of you actually read the holy book, you would find it is more relevant than ever in this day, it teaches us to love one another and respect each other, whereas all I read is on orange and other sites is about hate and people being r*ped.......you all may say i'm mad or crazy but at least when I read the bible I don't kill or hurt anyone

Joanne, most people have never read the bible yet hate it without knowing what greatness it holds. People like Shaun Spencer believe it is a work of fiction, how untrue. How can so many different authors point at the same thing...only with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Yes i've read the whole bible. It is a story explaining the cycle of stars and planets in a time when science was forbidden, it has been taken all to literally and re-written over time to make it the tripe it is today.
