A building manager, who donned a black cape and white mask before scaling buildings to cut tenants' electricity, telephone and television cables has been arrested after being caught in the act on CCTV.

The unnamed 44-year-old man from Krakow, Poland - dubbed by internet viewers Darth Vader after footage of him sneaking across rooftops with a pair of garden shears taped to a pole was leaked onto the internet - told police he had wanted to force the tenants out "because they weren't the types he wanted."

Police spokesman Katarzyna Padlo said: "As well as private residents there is also a travel agency and advertising agency both of which have been in the building for a lot longer than he has owned it.

"He first tried getting rid of them through the courts but when that failed he turned to unconventional matters."

The man now faces five years in jail for damage to property.
