Dogs show off frisbee skills

Sixty dogs from six countries showed off their frisbee catching skills at a tournament in Budapest.

They converged on the Hungarian capital for the Extreme Distance Frisbee European Championships for Dogs.

Participants at the Flydogs event took part in several different categories, including a toss and fetch freestlye in which they perform a routine to music.

Celebrating the special bond between owners and their dogs, the agile animals are trained for years to master the routines.

The dogs are encouraged to jump higher in the air once they become more confident.

Winners of the European Championships qualify for the World Disc Championships, which takes place in the US in September.

One competitor noted: "It all depends on the perfect harmony between dog and handler."
