Fire chief sacked for wedding stunt

A fire chief who commandeered three firetrucks and half his force to drive him and his bride to their wedding has been sacked.

Shi Wan ordered three trucks and three other official vehicles to join the wedding procession in n Yiliang, Yunnan province, China, to impress guests.

Four firefighters took excited guests for rides around the reception hotel car park with the lights and sirens blazing.

But the fire chief was sacked when snaps of the stunt appeared on the internet, outraging locals who accused him of putting their safety as risk.

"If there had been a fire half the fire service and all its vehicles would gave been out of action," said one.

A fire service spokesman said: "Squadron Commander Shi used this equipment without permission and his been dismissed."
