Good samaritans save sea-going deer
Workers at a tourist resort in Hawaii turned good samaritans when they saw a deer struggling - 200 metres out to sea.
The Axis deer could barely keep it's head above water when it was spotted off Wailea Beach on Maui island.
Workers at the Four Seasons Resort rushed into action and worked to get the deer safely to shore, reports KHON2.
Resort spokesman Michael Boyer said: "The deer came sprinting down he path leading to the ocean and actually ran directly into the ocean."
A beach lifeguard swam out and tried to put a rescue tube under the deer, which turned out to be a challenge in itself.
Eventually, she succeeded and rescuers then hauled the deer to shore where it was put in the back of a beach buggy and taken to nearby woods to be released.
