Housewife grows tache for Movember

A Staffordshire housewife has joined thousands of men around the UK by sprouting facial hair for Movember.
Siobhain Fletcher, 36, who has suffered from excessive facial hair since she was a teenager, is growing a moustache and goatee.
In the past, the condition, caused by polycystic ovary syndrome, has left her afraid to leave the house, reports The Mirror.
But Mrs Fletcher, from Leek, plucked up the courage to show off her facial hair on ITV1 show This Morning.
She said: "It was a spur of the moment decision. It isn't a sideshow. I'm doing it to raise awareness for cancer."
Mrs Fletcher, who shaves every other day - sometimes with husband Jim, 42 - has raised over £700 for Movember, which raises awareness for men's health.
She added: "My sister said she'd pay me £50 not to do it. Some of my friends agreed with her.
"I said that I was doing it anyway because I am stubborn and pig-headed and it's gone from a comment on Facebook, through the local papers and now on national television."
But she admitted she will shave it off at the end of the month, adding: "I'm taking it off only because it's itchy, very itchy, and I'm not used to it."

Robbie369P .
Is that Rooney in a wig?

Kerry Carline
Very insultive and uncalled for especially as she is doing this for a very good cause.it's comments like that that give people confidence issues.shame on you.well done siobhain

Robbie369P .
Does she look like Wayne Rooney?? Yes. It's lefties like you that make everyone walk around on egg shells.

Kerry Carline
Actually no she does not look like rooney.and it's idiots like you that put people down and make them feel ashamed of their looks and image.you should be ashamed of yourself.it's got nothing to do with being a leftie or not it's about decency and empathy which you seem to lack entirely.bully

Why was my reply removed????

Usualy people who are derogatory to others are, in fact, insecure, with issues of their own....

To be honest, we often poke fun at people on here. Not to do so at this woman (who is open about her condition and comfortable in her own skin) just because of her condition is almost discriminatory in itself. I once said David Cameron resembled a tadpole. As he's not afflicted by anything but regular stupidity, no-one minded a bit. Don't make a victim of this feisty lady.

Kerry Carline
Movvi why do u think we are saying good on ya girl.no one is trying to make her a victim but comments like roberts are precisely why this woman didnt leave her house for 5 years so she is afflicted by it.know your facts before you assume things

movvi
Pardon, Kerry? I know a good few facts, thanks. Particularly to do with this condition. Also, I was commenting on robert's post, not anyone else's. I don't tend to come here to partake in petty squabbles with others but you have engaged me in yours . For the record, I think his dig was more at Rooney!

movvi
Oh, I see what you mean - you think I didn't know she had the condition. If you read my post again, perhaps it will make sense. For, "If she is afflicted anyway", please read "As she is afflicted anyway". I need to be simpler on here.

Kerry Carline
Really????i doubt it movvi.i know a lot about this too and roberts comment was insultive to this woman.i do not wish to partake in a debate with you because i stand by everything i have said.your view in my opinion is void.

Kerry Carline
Oh and i knew exactly what ydnu meant but still i disagree with you entirely

movvi
We can agree to disagree, but I also find it insulting to be told by you that my knowledge on the subject is questionable. And as this is a public forum, I beg to argue that no-one's view is void (or invalid?) here. Who voided it? I also stand by what I said - I commended the woman for what she has done and I have every right to comment on robert's post too.

Juliecrumpton1234
Not like you, Kerry, movvi is always fair in her comments, as you are too, just a bit of misunderstanding I think....

Kerry Carline
At what point did i say that your knowledge on this is questionable?????? I didnt and think you misunderstand.your opinion on this is void to me and i am entitled to think that.julie you are right.i agree with a lot that movvi has said on this forum but not on this one.just saying that comments like roberts can be damaging to women with pcos.

Martin Anderson
I reckon it suits her LOL....very brave of her to show it off though and for an excellent cause!!

Chris Haynes
WOW, Well done Siobhain. Raising awareness and money for cancer as well as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Good luck to you.

If she's afflicted anyway it's kind and brave to do this.

lynchygt3
good going but im glad i dont wake up beside you every morning !!!!!!!!!!

Kerry Carline
She is probably glad she's not waking up beside you every morning too

Louisa Gieldon
well i hope your partner, if she is female, never gets PCOS or you will be very unhappy. I think she's brilliant for doing this and good publicity for this ailment and all the women who suffer from it

Juliecrumpton1234
Well said, Kerry, what an awful comment lynch made, shame on him!

Kerry Carline
Thanks julie.some people can be so insensitive.this lady has come through and overcome so much to be able to do this with such honesty and confidence and i would hate that to be undone because of comments like lynch and robert made

othelzer blitzer
what ho make a go of it , get a suit and tie , give a walkabout see how you like the world in your natural state. quite fetching i must say

Juliecrumpton1234
A pretty lady, completely admire her, takes guts to do what she's doing, and hopefully doing a lot of good too! Go girl!

Louisa Gieldon
Good on you Siobhain. I know a girl in her early twenties, who had pcos and she is so under confident as a result of the symptoms. nIce to see it publicised in such a brave and positive way. Lots of women are hairy and the pressure that's put on young women to be hairless, thin, manicured, pierced. tattoed, pedicured, made up, bleached and tanned. That's a lot of effort and a lot of money and i'm glad i'm not young any more. And it's all led by the "rise" of the pornography/sex industry anyway.
