Man calls 911 over wrong sandwich

A US man called 911 to complain that a sandwich shop had messed up his order.

Police say Rotherh McLennon complained he had "specifically asked for little turkey and little ham, a lot of cheese and a lot of mayonnaise".

But the Grateful Deli shop, in East Hartford, Connecticut, had got the order wrong, he complained.

"You're calling 911 because you don't like way that they're making your sandwich?" the dispatcher asked.

"Exactly," Mr McLennon replied. "I mean, I just want to solve this the right way.

"They are playing games with me, so I was just wondering if you could come by.

"I just want it resolved and I want to be able to come back here and get the regular sandwich that I ask for."

Before ending the call, the dispatcher advised him not to pay for the sandwich.

Deli owner Tila Azinheira said that Mr McLennon had placed an order for 14 sandwiches and the deli had made them to his specifications.

She said he later called back to apologise: "I think the customer realised how wrong he was," she added.
