Man goes for a swim in a pothole

A video of an Irish man taking a dip in the country's "deepest pothole" is going viral online.

More than a quarter of a million people have watched the clip of Liam Keane's swim in a road in County Cork.

The 21-year-old, from Kanturk, was alerted to the pothole by a friend, and after testing its depth with a stick, decided to take the plunge.

"When I saw it I said I wouldn't get a chance like it again. It was fresh water from a water main, so it wasn't dirty, I didn't mind doing it," he told RTE News.

The pothole, which was caused by a burst water main, has since been filled in.

It reminds me of Pat and Mick walking along a country road when Pat suddenly disappears having fallen down a large hole. "Pat, Pat are you ok" shouts Mick, "is there anything broken?" "There's nothing down here to break" replies Pat.

We had a saying when i worked in Africa. If you see two pointed ears sticking out of a pothole don't drive into it. It may a donkey and not a rabbit.
