Mystery monster shocks New York
The body of a mystery animal which washed up on a New York beach has sparked a wave of conspiracy theories.
Online debates speculate whether the 'monster' is a pig, a dog, a giant rat or some kind of mutant, reports the Daily Telegraph.
The New York Parks Department insists the animal is a pig bloated by being in the river - but it appears to have toes rather than hooves.
The creature was spotted and photographed by Denise Ginley who was walking under the Brooklyn Bridge in Manhattan.
Mrs Ginley said: "We were horrified by it and we took some camera phone pictures and then finally we decided to come back with my camera and I got up the courage to climb over the fence and get closer to it."
And she added: "I definitely agree that the feet are not pig-like at all. No hooves or cloven feet to be seen it definitely had five toes on all its paws, front and back.
"I think it could be a monstrously huge rat, but it could also be a monster. A rat that big would pretty much be a monster anyway, wouldn't it?"
One online commentator speculated: "I don't think it's purely coincidence that these unidentifiable creatures have washed up on shores around Plum Island where the government has their Center for Animal Diseases.
"I think these poor things are lab experiments the govt doesn't want us to know about."
But a spokesman for the New York Parks Department insisted: "It was a pig left over from a cookout. We disposed of it. It was a roasted pig we threw it out. We didn't count its toes, we just threw it out."

Looks like a pig to me. :S

TheMushyPea
It's not a pig, at least certainly not a domestic pig. Look at its feet. Looks like some sort of bush-meat that has been half-cooked and disposed off.

Could be a coypu with its fur burned off, may someone barbied it and them changed their mind. I wouldn't want to eat it.

Roberta Grieve

Looked like a pig to me too... Thing is, most city dwellers wouldn't recognize a pig unless it was handed to them in a packet marked bacon.

EQINOX187 .
Its not a pig. If you watch it on youtube put the vid to full screen and HD you can clearly see that it has paws and on these paws you can clearly see knuckles and claws also if you look at the tail it is far to long to be a pig tail. Ether way pigs do not have paws. As for the cooked meat theory because of its colour is also wrong. If it was you would be able to see a slit down its belly where it was gutted / cleaned and it would not bloat with gas. Reason is you would never cook an animal that still had its intestines and internals in place as this can effectively contaminate the food making it harmfull. Secondly the colour is just what hapens to a dead body that is exposed to traumaand days of direct sunlight and decomposition.

lmao at the dumb minus voter... If your small mind can not handle the simple facts try turning of your comp or atleast open up google and learn basic pig anotomy. Voting down a coment just because it presents the facts and not some omg its a monster / pig with paws / mutant is just pathetic and only shows your stupidity

I have redressed the balance as I thought you were very insightful! Thumbs up from me! These are indeed reasons why it can't have been discarded from a barbecue!

kinda gross , whatever it is

Bejesus - seriously - there is a great number of creatures this could be I'm sure - though unknown to me. Lots of things have "paws" (or whatever) like that - perchance it's some sort of coypu-type thing. The pig theory seems ridiculous, however! This is no pig. The particularly unfetching pose at 1:08 looks scarily like my pooch when she's a bit fat and stretching in the sun...

movvi
Ok - I just listened to the vid. No-one would admit to throwing a cooked pig out - there'd be a fine. Something bigger is being covered up in that case. Center for animal diseases, eh?!
