Pensioner gets that sinking feeling

An absent-minded motorist forgot to put the handbrake on his car - and watched it roll to the bottom of a lake.

Markus Bettler, 75, had parked beside Lake Constance, in Switzerland, during a visit to the beauty spot.

"As I slammed the door, I saw it start to creep forward but there was nothing I could do," he said.

Now the dozy driver is set for a second soaking - when police charge him £2,000 to pay for divers to winch the car out of the lake.
