Pupils bring lion to 'show and tell'

Cub /Europics

Youngsters in Russia had the mane attraction for their show and tell - when they found a lost lion cub on their way to school.

The male cub was spotted wandering the streets of Seyatel village, near Rostov in southern Russia, and taken to school by local children.

Police looked after the cub until owner Irina Kulikovskaya came forward saying it had escaped from the boot of her car.

"He's meant to be the real star of a new zoo I'm creating. I'm very grateful," she told local media.

"Nobody believed us when we said we had a lion when we got to school but you should have seen their faces when we brought it into class," said one of the pupils.

Lions should be in the wild - not the boots of cars.

I bet the kids were well made up,bless 'em. The cub must have found more genuine luv in the short time he spent with the kids than it will for the rest of its poor sad life.

What a buzz for the kids! I have to say though, I don't buy the "new zoo" bollards. I'd have thought you'd have to be better prepared than to have to transport the animals in a car boot, for one thing. It's more likely the fool owner only has this one and has it illegally - hence the "new" in the "new zoo" cover.
