Randy couple rescued after wall fall

An amorous couple who fell over a dry stone wall after getting carried away sparked a major emergency rescue operation.

Firefighters, paramedics, a mountain rescue team and even a helicopter were called out to recover the pair after they plunged 12ft down a steep embankment in the Yorkshire Dales.

The couple, who are in their early 30s, were in a clinch when the woman fell backwards over the wall, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Her partner tried to grab her, but she pulled him over with her and they both tumbled down the bank on the other side.

The man, who suffered possible abdominal and leg injuries, was flown to hospital by air ambulance. The woman was taken by road to hospital with suspected pelvic injuries.

The accident happened on a country road on the outskirts of the market town of Hawes in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire.

A North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman admitted it was a "very strange" incident.

Firefighters used ladders to help paramedics get to the couple and transfer them onto stretchers.

The Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team was also called out to help recover the two casualties.
