Return of Tupac stuns music fans
Fans at California's Coachella music festival couldn't believe their eyes - when Tupac Shakur, who died in 1996, 'appeared on stage'.
A hologram of the rapper 'performed' alongside Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre, with footage instantly going viral on YouTube.
The ghostly image was created by Digital Domain Media Group Inc which made the virtual versions of Brad Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Snoop Dog and Dr Dre and now reportedly discussing the possibility of touring with the virtual Tupac.
Digital Domain's chief creative officer, Ed Ulbrich, said: "To create a completely synthetic human being is the most complicated thing that can be done."
He said that the performances of the rapper's hits Hail Mary and 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted weren't simply old ones captured on film.
"This is not archival footage. This is an illusion. This is just the beginning. Dre has a massive vision for this," Mr Ulbrich said.

This was absolutely phenomenal and shows the brilliance technology can bring to art. It is through art that we can carry on the legends of the most brilliant performers and minds of our time. What a tribute this was to a legendary hip hop artist. You can see some more 2Pac art on my artist's blog with a surreal illustration I made in memoriam recently at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/09/in-memoriam-tupac-shakur.html
