Riot fear over kinky Last Supper

An art exhibition showing Jesus as a transvestite surrounded by gay, lesbian and transsexual disciples has been put under armed police guard over fears it could provoke a riot.
The image of the Last Supper - by controversial Swedish artist Elisabeth Ohlson Wallin - depicts Jesus wearing a dress and high heels surrounded by apostles wearing S&M gear and lingerie.
The Ecce Homo exhibition opened in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, surrounded by 2,000 police amid threats of a massive protest.
City officials have already cancelled a planned Gay Pride march - timed to coincide with the show - after threats of violent counter demos by ultra right wing group Movement Dveri.
what do you think?

am I to believe that it is just artists that are trying to provoke religious extremists into causing havoc? Or is there something more sinister behind this? seems a bit like social engineering.

Kevin Edwards
Its a good call for art, but should not provoke any religious theme... Just a bit of harmless art... If you must know there's worse out in this world than a photo...

Brian Holmes
It is offensive and that means it is not harmless. It is provoking violence so how can you believe it is harmless?

I find it difficult to believe that a) someone has so much time on their hands to produce such carp (think dyslexic to avoid the censor) and b) someone would pay good money to see it.

I dont see any thing odd about this picture, If you read the bible it is implied that Jesus didn't get married. you can bet that 2000 years ago if you didn't there was something wrong. So is this picture that wrong

Well said.

So what? It's interesting. It's a bit mundane. It has provoked a reaction. Does it really affect anybody? I say leave it be.

Russell Beaumont
I bet she wouldn't portray the prophet Mohammed in this way. Shes taking advantage of the christian, religon because its a forgiving religon. I think what she has done is a cowardly act to provoke a reaction of interest in tasteless art.

I thought it was a cabinet meeting at No 10.

I believe San Francisco had a similar poster a few years ago for the Folsom Street block party. Except, they were sitting at a real table not a card table and while there were some transvestites, theirs was mostly g*y leather men. (The profanity checker doesn't allow the a) I would say the other differences are that San Francisco is probably very liberal compared to Belgrade, and at least theirs had a purpose, to promote an annual event. In any case, theirs was apparently anonymous, crafted to appeal to the locals of interest. This one is by a Swede (probably a mean-spirited atheist) for the sole purpose of offending people. If an artist wants to speak 'truth to power' they should focus on Mohamed. But, no, that would be dangerous. This is just urinating on those with too much class to urinate back.

It should provoke a riot, it's the only way to get respect from the Liberal Left in Western Civilization. Perhaps the rioters should behead a few people...after all, that's what Muslims have done and they get tremendous respect from the Left now...
