Runners dodge brain-eating zombies
Thousands of runners took part in a survival-themed obstacle course race in the Philippines where the main danger came from hordes of zombies.
Two hundred actors dressed as zombies hid behind trees, bushes and rocky uphill climbs along the three mile course to surprise the unsuspecting runners.
They symbolically feasted on the runners' brains by stealing flags attached to their waists.
Once all three flags were stolen, runners were 'dead'. But they could gain additional flags by outwitting zombie guards in optional tasks.
About 5,000 people took part in the Outbreak Manila race in Laguna Province.
Organisers said the races helped runners stay focused without the boredom that can kill some runs.
"We like watching zombie shows and it really tickles our imagination," said Angelo Cruz.
"Right now, to have it in reality, it's making everyone's summer - I hope."
