Son made to run through snow in pants

A row has broken out after a man made his four-year-old son run in the snow in his underwear in New York.

The Chinese man, who calls himself Eagle Daddy, filmed the lad running in temperatures of minus 13C and posted the video online.

While running, the boy, Ho Yide, is seen shivering and pleading with his father "please give me a hug!"

The video attracted a torrent of criticism with many people branding it cruel and saying 'Eagle Daddy' should be arrested - but the father insists it's 'tough love'.

He says doctors warned him his son would develop slowly because he was born prematurely so he decided to come up with a training regime to help him grow fit and strong.

He wrote: "When the baby eagle is old enough the mother eagle will harshly push its baby down the cliff.

"When the baby eagle is plummeting a survival instinct would make it flap its wings vigorously. Through this the baby eagle acquires its basic survival skill - flying."

He says his son is thriving on an intense physical regime, including swiming in icy cold water, mountain climbing, jogging, kung fu and kickboxing, and is tougher and more clever than his peers.

"I don't agree with the education of most of the parents. They are too protective and caring, which makes their kid lazy and with no pioneering spirit," he added.

what do you think?

I'm not going to state the obvious, but what I don't get is why "Daddy Eagle" posted the video online?? Surely he realised the response it would get!?

Someone should point out to this idiot that his child is not an eagle. Perhaps the authorities should inflict the same punishment on him. I look forward to his upcoming arrest and imprisonment at least..............

How cruel can a person be, if i had been there i would have buried the man in 6foot of snow and left him there, even that would be too good for him.

A completely ridiculous parallel to try to draw - an eagle chick and small Chinese boy. He will not need to learn to fly, NumptyDad. "Pioneering spirit"?! This guy's pioneering spirit has seen him made a global pariah. Most disturbing is that the little man gets the most laughs when he starts to cry. All he wanted was a hug. These fools should have had a hamster, not a child. They are not capable of looking after him, clearly.

This is so awful. The dad should be punished. It made me cry, no child should be put through this.

So, this might sound awful putting a young child in icy cold. But there are parents who do some what the same. So how far should parent's push there child into something they don't want to do?All I say never force or put a child into danger, do something more constructive, maybe then as young adults won't riot on our streets.

Well my father was a very strict military man (Ex Sargeant) of 33 years army service but was always very fair in dealing with his 6 sons and four daughters given the era we were raised, I'm so I'm glad that this crazy guy was NOT my father, He strikes me as a cruel and unfeeling man with not a jot of compassion for his little boy....horrifying.

To some extent the poor kids father is right in preparing his son to face the unpredictable challenges in the future. But definitely not at that age. Maybe the child will start hating his father for that.
