Spangles the cross-eyed pirate cat

A cross-eyed cat called Spangles with a penchant for dressing up has become something of an internet star.

Spangles is picking up legions of fans after owner Mary Buchanan posted a picture of him in a pirate costume online.

Now the three-year-old feline has his own Facebook fan page where 5,000 followers eagerly await new pictures.

So far, he has also been pictured wearing a frog outfit, dressed as a tiger and even posing as a unicorn.

Ms Buchanan, 25, a college student from Spartanburg, South Carolina, adopted the cat from a neighbour when he was five months old.

She said: "Spangles was born on July 4, so with the Star-Spangled Banner that's how I got his name.

"He was born with one cross eye, but he's never had problems walking or anything.

"He's a total Mama's boy. He will pose for me, and let me know when he's in a glamorous mood."
