The world's meatiest sandwich

A British chef has made what is claimed to be the world's meatiest sandwich.

Tristan Welch's creation is crammed with 41 cuts of meat and reportedly takes ten hours to eat.

The massive sandwich stands 15 inches high, 24 inches wide and tips the scales at more than two stones.

It contains 1,445 grams of ham, two kilograms of salami, turkey and bacon, one kilogram of sausages and 720 grams of chorizo.

A sprinkling of salad, cheese and gherkins complete the sandwich, which took four hours to make.

It was made to mark the launch of TV programme Man vs Food Nation on Food Network UK.

The new show sees host Adam Richman travelling through the US encouraging people to take on daring food challenges.

Nick Thorogood, from the Food Network, said: "The world's meatiest sandwich is an epic creation.

"We expect only the very brave will take on the challenge and attempt to eat it."

The person who does manage to eat 'The world's meatiest sandwich' will take the crown of 'The most deserved heart attack'

Indeed, Gavin, but what in the world is "sence"? Tee hee. Most of what Matthew types makes me laugh out loud, however! Ha ha ha. See?

I think the Dalai Lama spiritual leader of Tibet went to America last year and I remember reading in the news he had one tomato for his dinner. My mum used to have two crisp breads for her dinner after cycling four miles to some greenhouse nursery to work all morning then going off to clean a primary school in the afternoon. She did that for ten years. Then she'd make our dinners in the evening, clean the house all the way through, dig weeds out of the garden, do the shopping ... all with two crisp breads at lunch time and one slice of toast for breakfast.

This item should read "We expect only the very STUPID will take on the challenge and attempt to eat it."

I can't help but think that this record could quite easily be broken immediately - by making a sandwich of 16 inches high from 42 cuts of meat! I'd hate to be munching on a 10-day-old flesh sandwich.
