Twitter hashtag confuses Cher fans
Margaret Thatcher's death sparked confusion on Twitter with fans of Cher believing it was the singer who had died.
The mix-up happened when people took to the social networking site to give their reaction using the hashtag #nowthatchersdead.
Fans of the singer, who has had number one hits with Believe and The Shoop Shoop Song, misread it as 'Now that Cher's dead'.
It sparked a flurry of tributes to the American popstar and her name started to trend in the UK.
Comedian Ricky Gervais attempted to set the record straight, writing: "Some people are in a frenzy over the hashtag #nowthatchersdead. It's 'Now Thatcher's dead'. Not, 'Now that Cher's dead'."
