Judo medallist thumps bottle thrower

Judo PA

Dutch judo Olympic medallist Edith Bosch claimed she punched the drunken spectator who threw a bottle onto the track moments before the 100m final.

Holland's world judo champion, who won bronze in the 70kg category, tweeted that she had "beaten" the person who had thrown the bottle.

She said: "A drunken spectator threw a bottle onto the track! I HAVE BEATEN HIM... unbelievable."

Nobody was injured during the incident and the event was not disrupted, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.

The suspect is being held in custody at an east London police station on suspicion of causing a public nuisance.

You watch - he'll claim compensation for injury and a breach of his human rights, and Edith will be charged with assault...

Yes but it is in fact assault with a deadly weapon. you forget she is a martial artist and licenced. Proberbly get the book thrown at her in the end and charged. It is assault which ever way you want to look at it.

I hoper she has been charged and stripped of any olympic medals and I hope they will send her home. There is no room for anyone taking the law into their own hands never mind a trained Martial Artist. Why the police did not arrest her I do not know and the Judo authorities should be looking to ban her from competitions. I hope the person concerned presses charges.

You hope a drunken spectator who threw a bottle on the track moments before a race presses charges? I hope she gave him a right good thumping, too many drunken cretins in this country already!

I think the threat of recieving a beating from a Judo champion would soon sort out the binge drinking problem in this country, we should emply them to do it more often! :D
