Toast tribute to Monroe
Marilyn Monroe has been immortalized in a huge toast portrait created by New Zealand artist Maurice Bennett.
Bennett, completed his latest creation, which measures four metres by three metres 30 centimetres and is made up of over 6,000 slices of bread, in Shanghai.
Bennett, known unsurprisingly as 'The Toast Man', explained: "I am a fan of Marilyn Monroe and Andy Warhol captured the essence of an entire era in his original masterpiece of her. I took Warhol's work then completely re-shaped and re-interpreted it so it worked in the very different medium of toast.
He added: "For the first time, I have used paint on a major toast art work to add highlights and clashes of colour."
"This is my unique take on a global icon and an image known around the world," he concluded.
