Remaining Beatles to share a stage

The Beatles ? Wenn

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are set to share a stage next month in New York.

The Liverpudlian pair are both due to perform at a New York benefit for the David Lynch Foundation on 4 April, but it's unclear whether they will appear together.

The organisation, established by the film director to promote transcendental meditation in schools, initially said that the former Beatles would be joining forces, but spokespeople for the pair have since said that a collaboration has not been confirmed.

Ringo's representative stated that the 68-year-old will definitely perform "a few songs on his own".

Both stars have praised the practice of transcendental meditation, as Paul told the BBC: "In moments of madness, it has helped me find moments of serenity.

"I would like to think that it would help provide [school children] a quiet haven in a not-so-quiet world."

Ringo added: "It gives me great pleasure to be part of this evening. I feel the aims of this charity are wonderful."
