13 bid to be Newbury's Darling
Al Thakhira faces a strong-looking field as 13 fillies bid to cement their Classic claims in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes at Newbury.
Marco Botti's charge had looked a serious contender for the QIPCO 1000 Guineas when winning the Rockfel Stakes in October, but she ended the campaign on a low when tailed off last on rattling fast ground in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies' Turf at Santa Anita three weeks later.
Now she has a chance to redeem her reputation on suitable conditions in the Group Three for fillies over seven furlongs, registered as the Fred Darling Stakes.
A quality field includes Frankel's half-sister Joyeuse, a Listed winner for Lady Cecil and sixth in the Cheveley Park Stakes. She too holds a 1000 Guineas entry.
This race looks to have plenty of strength in depth with Charles Hills saddling two promising types in Coral Mist and Dutch Romance.
Rae Guest has had plenty of talented fillies in his care over the years and looks to Cape Factor, winner of the Listed Bosra Sham Stakes to do herself justice.
The rest of the field comprises Alys Love, Beldale Memory, Dutch Courage, J Wonder, Lady Lara, Manderlay, Stealth Missile and Valonia.
