We pick out our top five players to watch ahead of Super League XVII:
Luke Gale - Bradford Bulls:

A graduate of the Rhinos Academy, Gale has joined the Bulls for the next two years. The 23-year-old, who can play at stand-off or scrum-half, has looked a promising player ever since his emergence in the lower leagues with Doncaster where he won National League Two Young Player of the Year in 2008. He has Super League experience after spending the past two seasons with Harlequins/London Broncos, and with his great kicking ability and tactical nous, will be looking to help the Bulls enjoy a good season.
Rangi Chase - Castleford Tigers:

How successful the Tigers will be in the 2012 season will depend a lot on whether or not their star man can replicate his form of last year. An exciting scrum-half, Chase's quick hands and step cause problems for any defence, meaning the reigning Man of Steel will definitely be one of the league's main attractions again.
Sam Tomkins - Wigan Warriors:

The Wigan full-back has lit up the Super League over the past two seasons. He helped the Warriors to their Grand Final win in 2010 and will be looking to do the same again this time around. At only 22, Tomkins is still yet to reach his peak and Wigan will want him at his best to put up another strong challenge.
Shaun Briscoe - Widnes Vikings:

Back in the Super League yet again, Windes will be looking to new signing and vice-captain Briscoe throughout the season. Coming from Hull KR, the full-back has a wealth of experience with a career spanning over 10 years. He showed last season why he can still be a danger to opposing sides.
Leon Pryce - Catalans Dragons:

Looking to start a new chapter in his Super League career down in the south of France, Pryce still has all the ability he showed at St Helens plus plenty of experience. He might be lacking the pace he once had, but he's enjoyed a strong pre-season and will want to prove to his doubters that he still has it at the top level.
