Tredwell in Sussex loan move

England off-spinner James Tredwell has joined Sussex on a month’s loan from Kent to play in the LV= County Championship.

The terms of the 32-year-old's loan deal means he will be only be available to play four-day cricket for Sussex and will remain available for selection for Kent in limited overs matches.

Academy graduate Adam Riley has displaced Tredwell in Kent's championship team, but the county have reserved the right to recall their former captain from his loan spell at any point.

Tredwell, who has represented England on 52 occasions in limited-overs cricket and has one Test cap to his name, admits he is looking forward to joining up with international team-mate Matt Prior.

"It's a great opportunity for me to join up with a club like Sussex, who I have admired for a long time throughout my career," he said.

"I've played with a lot of the guys over the years and played age-group cricket with the likes of Matt Prior and Carl Hopkinson, so it's an honour to join up with them again.

"I'm really looking forward to getting some red-ball cricket under my belt."
