Aces Rolling on to Sandown
Melling Chase runner-up Rolling Aces could set sail for Sandown on the final day of the jumps season on April 26.
The inaugural bet365 Chase, a Listed race over two miles and six furlongs, is viewed as a suitable next destination for Paul Nicholls' rejuvenated eight-year-old.
Despite having been pulled up in the Ascot Chase on his penultimate outing, Rolling Aces jumped really well on Merseyside to get to within three and a quarter lengths of Boston Bob.
Co-owner Paul Barber said: "We thought he was out of his depth in a race like that, but it's quite clear he wasn't.
"The headgear clearly helped but it was also good old ground at Aintree, and that suits him very well.
"He won't be going to Punchestown, but there's a new race at Sandown on the last day of the season in which he would have a fair chance."
