Adams reaches quarter-finals

Great Britain's Nicola Adams made it though to the quarter-finals of the EUBC European Women's Boxing Championships in Bucharest.

The 31-year-old Leeds boxer, who won flyweight gold at the London 2012 Olympics, beat Yana Burym of Belarus 3-0 in her under-51 kilogrammes preliminary contest at the Polyvalent Hall and will now face Bulgarian Stoyka Petrova for a shot at the medal fights.

At under-81kgs, Carly Ogogo - sister of London 2012 middleweight bronze medalist Anthony - beat Anamarija Marsic of Croatia.

Elsewhere in the quarter-finals on Wednesday, Liverpool boxer Natasha Jonas is through at under-64kg and will face Italian Valentina Alberti.

Ireland's London 2012 Olympic lightweight champion Katie Taylor will meet Ioana Mera Lavinia, of Romania, in the under-60kgs and Michaela Walsh will fight at under-54kgs against Russia's Elena Saveleva.
