Adebayor hails Soldado

Emanuel Adebayor was happy to see Roberto Soldado end his goal drought in Tottenham's 1-0 win over Cardiff on Sunday.

The Spain striker scored his first goal in nine matches as Spurs cut the gap on fourth-placed Manchester City in the Premier League.

"Roberto is one of the best strikers in the business and he has been through a lot," said Adebayor. "Today he is the one who gave us the three points, we are very happy, very delighted for him.

"Now as a team we just have to keep moving forward," added the Togo international, who admitted how hard it is for a striker to go through a goal drought.

"It's difficult, you start to have a little doubt in yourself and you'll be like 'when am I going to score again?' A striker playing with confidence and a striker playing without confidence is a different thing, trust me.

"I'm very delighted for Roberto Soldado because he never gave up as we can see, he kept on working hard and today he got rewarded for that. We just have to keep working hard as a team and manage to finish in the top four.

"Cardiff came here to survive and we played to finish in the top four. We had maybe two or three chances and managed to take one and that was the one that give us the treatment we needed.

"Now we just have to focus and take our chances a little bit more and maybe next time find the second goal that we keep looking for.

"Overall I'm very delighted for the team, for Roberto Soldado, for the club, for the fans.

"You could tell the fans were frustrated, we were as well on the pitch, but we managed to fight through it and we got the three points we needed, that was the most important thing."
