Age takes charity Glory
Age Of Glory took the St Patrick's Day Derby under former amateur rider, Brian Bunyan.
After setting off at a funereal gallop, Grainne Loughnane decided to seize the initiative on Newmill and the veteran 15-year-old looked to have stolen a march on his rivals by strorming a long way clear of the field.
The other riders did not panic and having sat prominently amongst the chasing pack, Bunyan produced the four-year-old to the front with a furlong to travel and soon had the measure of the opposition.
The victory was a sweet one for the rider as he was making his comeback into the saddle after a 25-year absence.
Maxi Chop hung violently across the track but still finished third under Andy Croskery, with Sherman McCoy (Rachael Harding) fourth.
Mica Mika, under Alex Hammond, finished down the field.
