Agger believes in Sterling

Raheem Sterling is a "great, great talent" who can win a place in England's World Cup squad, believes Liverpool team-mate Daniel Agger.

The 19-year-old winger, born in Jamaica, came through the England youth ranks before making his senior debut in November 2012 away to Sweden.

Reds defender Agger sees no reason why the England Under-21 regular - who scored in Saturday's 3-0 Premier League win at Southampton - cannot take it all in his stride.

"He can handle the pressure, or else he would not play for us, for Liverpool. It's a great opportunity for him," said Agger.

"If he continues what he is doing right now I cannot see why not (for the World Cup squad).

"He is a great, great talent and has some qualities England can use."

Agger is hoping for a chance to switch off from Liverpool's title challenge for a few days as he prepares to face England with Denmark.

"I think as a footballer you have to look at the next game, and the next game is against England for Denmark, so I can put that away for a bit, and as soon as that game is finished, back to Liverpool."
