Gareth Ainsworth was delighted after guiding Wycombe to their first league win since the opening day of the season.
Ainsworth was appointed caretaker manager at the end of September as Gary Waddock paid the price for the Chairboys' poor start to the campaign that had seen them fail to record a win in League Two since August 18.
His first game resulted in a 3-0 loss at Dagenham before a 1-1 draw with Plymouth on Tuesday night, but he didn't have to wait much longer to return the club to winning ways, playing 70 minutes as Josh Scowen scored the winner in a narrow 2-1 win over Torquay at Adams Park on Saturday.
Gary Doherty had put the hosts ahead before Rene Howe levelled just before the break, only for Scowen to head home the winner in the 63rd minute to leave Ainsworth beaming.
"I'm so pleased. It's no less than we deserve," he said. "We created lots of chances, and limited theirs. I saw people fly into challenges that they've not done as Wycombe players. That's fantastic. They players' actions are speaking far more than words will ever do right now. Results will come and go, but performances are more important to me.
"Just before half-time is not a nice time to concede. But we did not let it affect us. There's a word we've used this week, and it's resilience. We showed it. Things will come to test us, but we've got to keep going. Everyone seems to have lost their way at this club over the last six months. We seem to be coming together again, and there's a bit of a buzz. It's not always going to be good, but at the moment we're loving it."
