Ainsworth dismisses drop threat

Gareth Ainsworth has told his Wycombe players to stop worrying about their league position after a vital 0-0 draw against Accrington.

Accrington midfielder Piero Mingoia went closest to settling the contest when his late effort was ruled out for offside.

The result saw Wycombe move a point clear of the League Two drop zone and Ainsworth insisted his side can still pull their way up towards mid-table.

"Looking at the league there is nine points between eighth and relegation, it's crazy so it's a very tight league and I don't want anyone worrying too much about the table at the moment," said Ainsworth, whose side have won just once in their last 17 league games.

"I want to be beating teams like Accrington at home but that's the first clean sheet we've had in a while so we've got to build on that and we've crossed one of our targets off, to hit 30 points.

"It wasn't a must-win game, it was a like-to-win game, but we got a point, we got a clean sheet and we've got to build on those things."
