Al-Attiyah wins again

Nasser Al-Attiyah claimed his second stage win in as many days at the Dakar Rally to reduce the gap on overall leader Stephane Peterhansel.

Al-Attiyah triumphed in Tuesday's 289-kilometre fourth stage from Nazca to Arequipa, with Guerlain Chicherit 36 seconds behind and Peterhansel coming third, one minute and 17 seconds behind the Qatari.

The 2011 winner is now the closest challenger to Peterhansel, whose lead was reduced to five minutes and 16 secs.

Joan Barreda Bort was successful in the bikes, edging out Olivier Pain although the Frenchman increased his advantage over David Casteu - who finished third today - to two minutes and 24 secs.
