Alcott to retire from skiing
Team GB Olympic alpine skier Chemmy Alcott has announced her retirement from racing after she competes in the 2014 British Alpine Championships.
Alcott represented her country in four Winter Olympics, her final appearance coming in this year's games in Sochi, where she finished 19th.
The 31-year-old enjoyed five top-10 World Cup finishes and is the only British skier to have won a World Cup giant slalom run, reaching a career-high ranking of No 8 in the world.
But she has decided to call time on competitive racing, announcing her decision via social media.
"Skiing will still be a huge part of my life but to do that I must sadly bow out of racing," Alcott tweeted.
The British Alpine Championships take place from 29 March-7 April in Meribel, France.
